About the partnership
An investment in students
There has never been a more transformative time in the automotive industry, and Magna and Georgian and working together to connect students who want to help Magna develop solutions around electrification, autonomy and new mobility.
In November 2020, Magna and Georgian announced a $1-million multi-faceted collaboration focusing on bridging the skills gap, driving change in the field of mechatronics, and preparing students for industry 4.0 opportunities.
Magna’s investment at Georgian includes providing funding for a new, state-of-the-art mechatronics lab – The Magna Mechatronics Lab – which opened in June 2022, as well as the creation of an extensive scholarship and award suite for both future and current Georgian students. The collaboration also includes exploration of innovative research and development opportunities, programming around co-op and post-graduate employment, and exciting new collaborations in the area of corporate training and recruitment.
The partnership is delivering:
- a 2,200-square-foot Magna Mechatronics Lab
- 17 pieces of new, cutting-edge equipment outfit the Magna Mechatronics Lab
- 133 Georgian students hired by Magna for co-ops since 2010, across various divisions
- 210 Georgian graduates hired across the organization
