Social media campaign invites students to tackle racism and discrimination

Simcoe County It STarts here socail media campaign pledge cardGeorgian students are invited to take part in the Simcoe County #ITSTARTS social media campaign – a public education initiative to promote a unified community that embraces acceptance, inclusion, equity and diversity.

The campaign asks participants to take action against racism and discrimination by posting their pledge on Twitter (@simcoecounty), Facebook (@CountyofSimcoe) and Instagram using the #ITSTARTS hashtag.

#ITSTARTS runs April 23 to May 4. It’s open to everyone living, working and visiting Simcoe County. Pledge as an individual or as a group.

Get involved

Pick up a pledge card from your local library branch or download the pledge card (PDF).

Share your message.

  • Post pictures and videos (no more than 30 seconds) on the County of Simcoe Twitter and Facebook pages and Instagram using the #ITSTARTS hashtag.
  • Display the pledge card in a visible place.
  • Perform acts of inclusivity – host a multicultural lunch, learn about different cultures, read international authors.
