The two teams met just two weekends ago in the regular season finale, which was a tough hard-fought game won by the Grizzlies 10-5 in the final moments. The semi-final had a similar story but only at the end.

The first half of the semi-final was controlled by Durham. The Lords capitalized on some costly Georgian turnovers and were able to score three tries in the first half alone.

Georgian’s lone points of the half came from a Benjamin Robinson (Frankford) penalty kick during injury time as the Lords led 19-3.

The Grizzlies re-set at halftime and came out determined to turn things around in the second.

Georgian continued to push and it was Matt Comeau (Lindsay) who was able to get the Grizzlies to break through as he scored an incredible three tries in the second half including one in the final minutes to tie the game.

It then came down to Benjamin Robinson who successfully kicked his third convert of the half to seal the amazing comeback and send the Grizzlies to the gold medal final as they defeated the Lords 24-22.

The Grizzlies will now prepare for the gold medal game where they will face the St. Lawrence Surge in Kingston.

The Surge defeated the Humber Hawks 17-15 in the other OCAA semi-final on Saturday. The Grizzlies and Surge faced back on Oct. 3 in a game that finished in a 12-12 tie.

The two teams will face in the gold medal final next Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at the St. Lawrence Kingston campus – North Field.
