Georgian men’s rugby team head into post-season with winning record

The Georgian Grizzlies men’s rugby team wrapped up their regular season schedule on Saturday with a win over the Durham Lords at J.C. Massie Field.
It was a defensive battle with lots of physical play from both teams in a match that came right down to the wire.
The game was tied 5-5 at the half. Georgian kept pushing and pushing, but Durham made several goal line stops to keep the game tied. In penalty time the Grizzlies were finally able to break through as Rahal Delpachitra (Sri Lanka) scored his second try of the day to give the Grizzlies a 10-5 victory.
The Grizzlies finish off their regular season schedule with a 2-1-1 record. It is the ninth consecutive season the Grizzlies have finished the regular season with a winning record, all with head coach John Daggett at the helm.
Daggett has now amassed an incredible 41-9-2 all-time record as the Grizzlies head coach since the 2012 season.
The Grizzlies will now shift their focus to the post-season which features the top four teams. Semi-final matchups will take place Nov. 6/7 and be followed by bronze and gold medal matches the following weekend.
The playoff schedule will be announced this week.
