13 things to get you in the Halloween spirit

Halloween is Oct. 31, so here are a few spook-tacular things to get you into the spirit!

  1. Downtown Gravenhurst is hosting Let the Spirits Rise on Saturday, Oct. 27. This event features a zombie walk, trick or treating at downtown shops and much more.
  2. If you really enjoy being scared, check out the Scream Shack in Coldwater. Even their music is scary!
  3. Love cemeteries? Why not check out one of three cemetery tours you can do in Owen Sound.
  4. Explore Algonquin Park’s Haunted Halloween Weekend. Hear creepy campfire stories, go on a skeleton tour or dress up to win a prize for best costume.
  5. Canada’s Wonderland has several Halloween Haunt evenings. Check it out this weekend.
  6. Come out to the Halloween Spooktacular at Santa’s Village in Bracebridge.
  7. Raise your running shoes from the grave and participate in the Halloween Howl Fun Run/Walk on Oct. 27. All proceeds go toward Special Olympics Orillia.
  8. Come to the Georgian College Students’ Association (GCSA) Halloween pub at the Orillia Campus on Oct. 30.
  9. Meet the ghosts of S.S. Keewatin! Take a one-hour escorted tour through this historic steamship.
  10. The Barrie GCSA is hosting a Mentor Mash on Oct. 31. Visit their spooky selfie spot, decorate a pumpkin or dress up and win a prize for best costume.
  11. Get in the mood watching the classic scary movie, Halloween, at the Marsh Street Centre in Clarksburg or watch another classic, The Shining, on Oct. 31 in downtown Orillia.
  12. Experience the phenomenon of Pumpkinferno! View amazing carved pumpkin displays set against the evening backdrop of Discovery Harbour! But beware . . . zombies and ghouls lurk in the new Terror Zone . . . enter if you dare.
  13. And if you’re heading out of town this weekend, here are a few scary places to visit around Ontario: Legends of Horror, Nightmares Fear Factory, Fear Farm, Haunted Manor, Fort Fright and Scarehouse Windsor.
