Georgian community garden – successful harvest!
Aug. 21, 2020
Georgian’s thumbs are green! Over the past few weeks Georgian has harvested close to 400 kgs. of plants, including potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, beets, herbs and cabbage from our community garden.
Food grown in the garden has been used in Georgian’s kitchens as Culinary Management students and apprentices returned to the Barrie Campus to complete their summer and winter labs. Food has also been distributed to a few local charities such as the Elizabeth Fry Society, Salvation Army Bayside Mission and to Georgian’s student food locker program. Bryan Hunt, Dean, Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation said the project was so successful he hopes to expand it even further next summer.
