Georgian College students team up with Fresh Radio to raise funds for MADD with vintage mocktail event

Some of Barrie’s top restaurants, pubs, and caterers will compete to create the best non-alcoholic mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail) at a Georgian College student-run event on Thursday, Nov. 24. Guests at the sixth annual Mocktail MADDness event will vote to choose the winners.
The event is an opportunity for Georgian Event Management students to put into practice the skills they learn in class. All proceeds from the event will go toward Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Georgian College scholarships.
The event will be held at the Dorian Parker Community Centre, 227 Sunnidale Rd. in Barrie, beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m.
Participating restaurants and fine dining experiences this year include Kelsey’s, Canvas and Cabernet, Muskoka District Chef Association, among many others. Last year’s Mocktail MADDness raised over $5000 for MADD Barrie Chapter and Georgian scholarships.
Fresh Radio 93.1FM is this year’s major Mocktail MADDness sponsor. The station will daily updates of the event.
“On top of getting to sample all the creations, guests will be able to dance and play games accompanied with live music and a vintage atmosphere.” said Event Management student Dakotah Francis. “This year we are excited to present many fantastic raffle prizes kindly donated by local businesses in Barrie and surrounding area. We are excited to offer NHL Toronto Maple Leafs tickets and jerseys, a propane barbecue, luggage sets and much more”.
