A group of happy students assemble in an airport waiting lounge.Four faculty members and 22 students left yesterday on a week-long mission trip to the Dominican Republic to provide care and services to underprivileged populations in isolated communities.

This annual trip has grown over the past 10 years to include not only nursing students, but students from various health disciplines and medical professionals from throughout the community, bringing much-needed health care to thousands of people in the poorest regions of the Dominican Republic.

Student participants acquire hands-on experience, provide basic health care and gain a better understanding and appreciation for the culture of the Dominican people.
