Aanin, She:Kon, Tanshi, which means hello in Ojibwe, Mohawk and Michif (the language of the Métis).
This is one of the most exciting times of the academic year as we welcome thousands of new and returning students to our campuses. We’re so glad they chose Georgian for their studies. I’m inspired by their courage to pursue their passions and dreams, start or change careers, and make better lives for themselves and their families.
Many of our students already call Central Ontario home, while others come from across Canada and more than 85 countries around the world. They each bring unique experiences and perspectives that truly enrich our classrooms, campuses and region.
A place where everyone belongs
Georgian is a place where every voice matters, you’re encouraged to be yourself, and where allyship and inclusion are expected. We want everyone to feel seen, heard and to know they belong.
Enriching our communities
Georgian and our students have a significant impact on our campus communities and region, adding $1.7 billion total income to the region and supporting 22,752 jobs.
Embracing a new year
We’re all here at Georgian to learn, unlearn, take risks, make mistakes and iterate…including me. A new year means new opportunities and I encourage you to take advantage of all we have to offer.
Whether you’re a current student, employee, partner or community member – this is your college. We’re here to support and grow alongside you. No matter your goals, let us help you get there. No matter your challenges, let us collaborate with you on creative, tangible solutions.
Stay connected
I love hearing your stories and experiences. Follow and tag @georgiancollege on social media. You’re also welcome to connect with me on X (formerly Twitter) @kevinweaver_ or Instagram @k.weaver_
I wish our students all the best in their studies, our employees a great start to the academic year, and our partners and campus communities a healthy and prosperous fall.
I remain proud, humbled and grateful to serve as Georgian’s president.
Chi-Miigwech, thank you.
