Toonie toll on Oct. 11: students asking for $2 donations to support United Way

Close up of four students holding a pile of tooniesA student-led toonie toll in support of Georgian’s United Way workplace campaign for students and staff will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at various entrances on the Barrie Campus. Georgian College Students’ Association (GCSA) members will be asking for $2 donations to be directed to United Way programs that supports sports teams for children.

“The United Way of Greater Simcoe County not only provides support for the community with monetary donations that allow children to play on sports teams and become physically active, but they also break down social barriers and create more opportunities for every person in the Barrie community,” says Avery Konda, President – GCSA Barrie.

Barrie Campus GCSA members will collect the donations at major entrances to the college, including the gymnasium, The Last Class (TLC), the C Building area beside the cafeteria, and more.

Students and staff who donate a toonie will be eligible to win one of the following prizes:

  • $50 TLC gift certificate (one for students and one for staff)
  • Dinner for two to a Georgian Dining Room international-themed dinner (one for students and one for staff)
  • Parking pass for one semester (students only)

The initiative is part of Georgian’s United Way workplace campaign which runs through Oct. 21.
