Sweet Maple Festival taps into community support, family fun
March 21, 2024
In a celebration of all things maple, Barrie is gearing up for a new and exciting family event – the Sweet Maple Festival hosted at Georgian College.
This sweet event, organized by Event Management students as their capstone project, will take place on Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and promises a delightful mix of pancake indulgence, a local vendor market, and family-friendly activities, making it a must-attend affair for the whole community.
All proceeds raised at the Sweet Maple Festival will go directly to the Barrie Food Bank and the Georgian Food Locker, an emergency food bank for students.
“The Sweet Maple Festival team is made up of domestic and international students with diverse backgrounds and life stories. From personal or close experiences, each member of the team knows how important food supplementation programs are, and that’s what makes this event so special to us as a group,” says Rachel Sedore, Event Management student and co-organizer of the event. “We are excited to be able to support two extremely important resources for the Barrie community and Georgian College students.”
Tickets for the Sweet Maple Festival, hosted at Georgian’s Barrie Campus, are $10 for adults and $8 for children (age 12 and under). Tickets can be purchased online.
Pancake indulgence:
The festival kicks off with a mouthwatering pancake breakfast, featuring pancakes served fresh and hot, drizzled with Georgian College’s own maple syrup tapped from maple trees at the Barrie Campus.
Local vendor market:
The heart of the festival lies in its vibrant marketplace, showcasing the best of Barrie’s craft and artisan talent. From handmade treasures to unique local products, attendees will have the chance to support and discover the creative spirit of the community, making it a unique shopping experience.
Family fun for everyone:
Designed with families in mind, the Sweet Maple Festival offers a range of activities for kids of all ages throughout the day. From interactive, maple-themed events to photo opportunities, the festival ensures a memorable experience for the entire family.
What makes this event unique:
Enjoy a do-it-yourself toppings station to create a unique breakfast with sweet treats, take a leisurely tour through Georgian’s maple tree path, and children can participate in a self-led scavenger hunt through the Kid’s Zone activities.
