Lakehead University and Georgian University Partnership Centre have an innovative plan to offer students a different kind of education – the best of university and college, combined. The two institutions responded to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities’ call for proposals to expand degree capacity in Ontario.
Lakehead-Georgian proposal
The Lakehead-Georgian proposal is responsible, affordable and builds on existing infrastructure. It’s also good for students and taxpayers.
Together, Lakehead and Georgian will grow to offer more than 50 degree programs to 6,000 students – 25 new degree programs in the next 15 years.
Students will experience the best of university and college education – many in integrated programs, earning both a degree and diploma in four years.
Lakehead and Georgian can accommodate another 2,000 students immediately – 800 at Lakehead Orillia and 1,200 at Georgian’s Barrie Campus. When this capacity is filled, the institutions will grow from there.
