Record number of programs starting at Georgian College Muskoka Campus this fall
Aug. 11, 2015
Georgian College’s Muskoka Campus continues to be a bustling place. Staff and faculty are busy preparing for a record number of full-time and part-time programs this fall and winter.
New to the campus is the full-time, two-year Business (Co-op) program. It allows students to earn a business diploma – and valuable, local co-op work experience. The program teaches the basics of business, including economics, accounting, marketing, and human resources.
In addition to business, the Muskoka Campus offers six other full-time programs: Bookkeeping, Business Fundamentals, Carpentry Techniques, Office Administration – General, Personal Support Worker, and Pre-Health Sciences.
Campus Manager Bonnie DeWitt says she and her staff are dedicated to meeting the educational needs of the Muskoka community.
“We are committed to offering the very best in education now and into the future,” said DeWitt. “We offer a personalized educational experience while meeting the local demand for employment training in health care, skilled trades, business and the service sector.”
The Carpentry Techniques program also includes an opportunity for community service learning. Each year, students lend a hand to a local non-profit organization such as Habitat for Humanity, where they gain practical experience. On campus, students learn in a 7,000-square-foot carpentry shop.
Other facilities include computer labs, multimedia classrooms, videoconferencing facilities, and free parking. Additional services include Academic and Career Preparation courses, a wide variety of computer training at all levels of expertise, part-time credit courses for career development as well as personal interest courses.
