Paul Sadlon recognized with Georgian College honorary diploma

Today, Georgian College presented longtime supporter Paul Sadlon with the Board of Governors’ Honorary Diploma. Georgian President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes and Board of Governors member Lyn McLeod conferred the diploma on Sadlon during convocation ceremonies at the Barrie Molson Centre with more than 2,000 guests in attendance.

The Georgian College Board of Governors’ Honorary Diploma is presented to a recipient who has demonstrated excellence in their profession or industry, and who has made a major contribution to an academic program at the college through a significant contribution of expertise, influence and personal time.

“Paul Sadlon is highly recognized in our community as a savvy business man and successful entrepreneur,” says MaryLynn. “Today, Georgian celebrates Mr. Sadlon, the philanthropist who has shared his spirit, passion and experience generously to improve the lives of Georgian students for generations to come.”

Sadlon, a long-standing, successful business owner in the Barrie area founded Paul Sadlon Motors, his automotive dealership, in 1965. Driven by his values, which include enhancing access to postsecondary education, Sadlon is a family man who is deeply loyal to his clientele.

Believing in the power of Georgian, its students and alumni and the positive impact they can make in the community he has always called home, Sadlon and his family were an integral part of bringing the Sadlon Centre for Health, Wellness and Sciences to fruition through their $2-million donation in 2011. His commitment to postsecondary education not only helped Georgian’s Power of Education campaign exceed its fundraising goal, but it spoke to the importance of community and corporate social responsibility that makes Paul Sadlon Motors a leader in the industry.

Also known for supporting many community causes and events, Sadlon, through his dealership, has given to the Simcoe County Newcomer Recognition Awards, Barrie Pride, the Bradford Lion’s Club and the Bradford West Gwillimbury Library and Cultural Centre.

“By investing in health care education, Mr. Sadlon is helping to produce the next generation of health care professionals who will work in our hospitals, health clinics, paramedic services, long‐term care facilities and other treatment sites,” says MaryLynn. “The clinics in our centre not only offer health care services to the public at reduced rates but they also provide valuable hands‐on learning experience for our students.”
