Grizzly Brady Zordan earns silver at golf provincials
Oct. 4, 2018
The Georgian Grizzlies men’s golf team competed at the 2018 OCAA Golf Championships this week hosted by Fanshawe College at the FireRock Golf Club in Komoka.
It was a tremendous tournament for Georgian’s Brady Zordan.
The Midhurst native was a model of consistency as he was one of only 16 golfers in the field to post three consecutive rounds in the 70s. Zordan began with an opening round of 75 before posting rounds of 71 and 73 to wrap up the tournament.
He finished shooting six over par for the championship and earned a silver medal by finishing in a tie for second place.
He becomes the first Georgian men’s golfer to earn an individual medal at the OCAA Championships since Colton Kalkanis in 2012-2013.
Jeff Ash (Barrie) finished in 14th place along with teammates Anthony Gognavec (Parry Sound) who finished tied for 22nd, Austin Morrison (Lloydminster, AB) finished tied for 24th and Luke Szent-Ivany (Pickering) who rounded out the Georgian contingent in 30th place.
Combined, the Grizzlies men’s team finished with a score of 925, good enough for a fourth-place finish. The team narrowly missed out on a bronze medal finishing just 12 strokes behind the third-place St. Lawrence Vikings.
The fourth-place finish snapped an incredible run for Georgian’s men’s golf team which had earned a medal in every year since the 2009-10 season.
