Georgian’s summer semester will begin May 19
March 31, 2020
The health and safety of our students and employees remains Georgian’s top priority. To ensure we continue to serve our students throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to delay the start of the summer semester by two weeks. The semester will begin on Tuesday, May 19 and will last for 12 weeks, during which programs will be delivered remotely for all current students (in semesters two through eight). Given the uncertainty involving the approval of study visas and resumption of international travel, decisions related to the first semester intake will soon be communicated.
All students required to complete labs and practical learning components for both winter and summer semester will do so during the last three weeks of August.
- Remote classes and student services will continue for the remainder of the winter semester. Information for your specific course can be found on Blackboard.
- All on-campus lab or practical learning requirements to complete courses for the 2020 winter and summer semesters will be completed during the last three weeks of August. Students will be notified once details regarding specific courses are determined.
- Summer semester start will be delayed by two weeks and will run with remote delivery from Tuesday, May 19 through Friday, Aug. 7 with completion of mandatory lab or practical components occurring in the last three weeks of August. There will be no reading week during the summer semester. Registration opens on April 21. Check Blackboard starting May 13 for details from your faculty.
- Only once it is safe to do so, students will be asked to resume their clinicals and placements that were suspended in March.
- The best source for co-op information is on MyGCLife. From there, you can connect to co-op consultants and other information sources.
- June convocation is postponed. Students who successfully completed their program in December or in April will receive their credentials by mail in the summer. Graduates will be invited to a future ceremony when we can celebrate this milestone together.
