Georgian remembers
Nov. 11, 2014
Today, Georgian remembers.
We remember our Canadian soldiers and members of the army, airforce navy and merchant marines.
We remember their bravery, courage and ultimate sacrifice – giving their lives for our freedom.
We remember our own personal and community losses – losses that, for many, remain deep.
We think particularly of individuals like Georgian graduate Private Kevin McKay who was killed by an IED in Afghanistan in 2010. And dedicated countrymen such as Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Cpl. Nathan Cirillo – who lost their lives last month in two separate attacks that took place in Quebec and Ottawa.
Today, Georgian remembers. . .
But we also do much more.
We honour our veterans and those who have returned home injured.
We honour the men and women who currently serve Canada both here and overseas. We honour their families.
As we gather together this morning, may we never forget. May Remembrance Day be every day.
And may we be humble, grateful and ever mindful of those who serve.
