Georgian marine programs showcased in Great Lakes exhibit
June 23, 2015
Georgian showcased its Owen Sound Campus marine programs (Marine Technology Navigation, Marine Engineering Technician and Marine Engineering Management) and mobile simulator this week at the launch of an art exhibit hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. The exhibit, Identity: Art Inspired by the Great Lakes, was held in Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell’s suite at Queens Park. The exhibit focuses on the important role the Great Lakes have played in shaping Ontario’s culture, identity and ecology.
The Owen Sound Campus and the entire Grey-Bruce region are set to become the marine training centre of excellence in Ontario, following a major funding announcement by the federal and provincial governments in Owen Sound on June 23. This funding, together with $2 million pledged previously by Grey County council and anticipated donations from the marine industry, means that Georgian College will be able to proceed with the much-needed centre.
