Georgian College is top Ontario college in international student satisfaction survey

Georgian College received the highest score among Ontario colleges in the International Student Barometer (ISB) survey. Georgian also ranked number two among all Canadian colleges and universities, and number three in the world. The ISB survey is the largest and most extensive survey of international students globally.
The survey covers four categories spanning arrival experience, learning, living and support. Georgian’s highest scores included online and physical libraries, eco-friendly attitude, expert lecturers, IT support, arrival support, safety and orientation. Administered online by International Insight to students attending postsecondary institutions outside their home country, the survey included almost 162,000 students from 180 institutions in 15 countries. More than 200 Georgian students responded to the survey.

Georgian has been growing in popularity with international students over the past several years. The number of students from other countries increased almost 88 per cent from 2009 to 2013. This year, almost 700 international students from over 40 countries will attend Georgian.
“Studying at Georgian is more than an academic experience for our international students,” said Ben Yang, Executive Director, International Education and Development at Georgian College. “The International department takes a holistic approach to provide the most memorable cultural, social and life experiences for international students.”
“When it comes to supporting international students, we try to prevent potential problems,” said Yang. “For example, rectifying an immigration documentation issue involves much more time and stress than processing it correctly from the beginning.”
Yuerong Yang came to Georgian from China to study in the one-year International Business Management graduate certificate program.
“The faculty members are very friendly and helpful and the facilities are great too. Services are available for me whenever I need them, such as the library, academic support services and the gym,” said Yang. “The International Centre helps me with participating in social activities, assisting with medical insurance and job opportunities. If I have any problem, the International Centre is the first place I will ask for help.”
