Barrie philanthropist Jane Jackson honoured at appreciation event on June 4

Georgian College honoured local philanthropist Jane Jackson at an appreciation event on June 4. The event was held to recognize Jane’s ongoing support of Georgian and its students, and in particular, her generous investment in the Peter B. Moore Advanced Technology Centre. Georgian staff, students and special guests gathered for a plaque unveiling for a new Bring Your Own Device lab where students can plug in and stay connected during class.

The lab has convenient charging stations at every desk and is set up to encourage lively discussion and teamwork. It also has two projectors, which allow for engaging presentations and lectures. Helping Jane with the unveiling were MaryLynn West-Moynes, Georgian College President and CEO, and Mayank Bisht, a Big Data Analytics student. Following the unveiling, guests participated in a fun activity organized by the Big Data Analytics students followed by afternoon tea to honour Jane’s Scottish ties.
