Course description

Students are introduced to the study of beam analysis and design in various materials, including wood and steel. Students review construction drawings from small building projects and specify various structural items. Computer design software is introduced and used for beam, joist, and column design. Students apply the design rules of Part 4 and Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada.

Post Secondary level MENG 2017 Strength of Materials Minimum Grade of 50
or Post Secondary level MENG 2007 Strength of Materials Minimum Grade of 50
