Course description

This blended online theory with on-site practical course meets the requirements of the Standards of Training, Certification of Watchkeepers (STCW) Convention Regulation VI/1 and STCW Code Tables A-VI/1-1 (personal survival techniques), A-VI/1-2 (fire prevention and firefighting) and A-VI/1-4 (personal safety and social responsibilities). Participants acquire knowledge, understanding and proficiency in shipboard emergency procedures and response, lifesaving appliances, rescue and survival, lifeboats and life rafts, shipboard firefighting, firefighting equipment, pollution prevention and effective shipboard communication.

Prerequisites

Valid marine medical certificate or Georgian College Medical Fitness Report.

Minimum 16 years of age.

Participants taking this course must be clean shaven.

Participants may be asked to participate in a fit test.
