Specifying and Estimating

Course description
Students develop competency in estimating and specifying techniques and learn to prepare an itemized bill of quantities from specifications for kitchen and bath designs. They explore methods for the preparation of a comprehensive list of material quantities for fabrication and proprietary item purchases. Students learn how to produce cost estimates for construction materials, design components, equipment, fixtures, as well as labour costs for construction and installation, and examine methods for estimating contingency sums and specifying provisional sums.
