Course description

Students learn about merchant ship types, general deck machinery, deck maintenance and elementary ship handling. They also learn about the working routine and roles of shipboard personnel and basic response to emergencies at sea and in port.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
