Course description

Students acquire the skills and knowledge needed to design, implement and modify, behavioral support plans that utilize the principles of applied behavioural analysis and positive behaviour supports. Students use a functional behavioural assessment to determine the reasons for challenging behaviour and identify how to support individuals through the development of new skills. Students discuss the professional skills needed to support and empower the individual and their family within a framework of ethical collaboration, and examine a variety of services and supports to meet the diverse needs of families.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
