NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness(MC)

Course description

In this course, students learn to recognize the presence of hazardous materials/weapons of mass destruction (WMD), protect themselves, call for trained personnel and secure the area. Students identify the name, UN/NA identification number, type of placard or other distinctive marking applied for the hazardous materials/WMD involved, collect information from the current edition of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG), identify container shapes that can indicate the presence of hazardous materials/WMD, and identify the basic information on safety data sheets (SDS) and shipping papers for hazardous materials. This course meets the requirements of Hazardous Materials Awareness defined in Chapter 4 of the NFPA 1072 Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications, 2017 edition.
