Course description

Students explore the structure of municipal governments and their power to enact bylaws. Municipal statutes are examined such as parking bylaws, animal control bylaws in addition to other offences under a variety of Provincial Acts such as the Trespass Act, Dog Owner’s Liability Act and the Provincial Offences Act. Students examine Municipal Law Enforcement duties in adherence with the Municipal Act, 2001 and review how to prepare court documentation to initiate proceedings under Parts I, II and III of the Provincial Offences Act in relation to Municipal Bylaws and appropriate Provincial Acts.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
