Course description

Students learn the history of pharmacological treatment for children and youth and the interconnection to mental health. Students identify commonly prescribed psychopharmacological medications, side effects and administration of medication and learn to assist with the administration and documentation of medication under supervision and in accordance with prescribed directions and agency policies. Students learn to identify drugs used for recreational use/misuse and their behavioural manifestations in children and youth.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
