Course description

This course focuses on the practice of lifestyle coaching and the role it can play in helping people establish and maintain a positive and healthy lifestyle across the life span. Students are introduced to theories and models of behaviour change as they relate to physical activity. Students also explore the ways socioeconomic status, gender, culture, and beliefs influence health behaviours. Motivational interviewing and active listening skills are developed as tools for better understanding the varied needs and desires of individuals seeking to make changes in their current lifestyle.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
