Course description

This is an introductory course in Labour Economics. The course begins with a brief review of economic principles. After a review of labour legislation in Canada, the course reviews the trends in labour force growth, employment, unemployment, and wages. The course concludes with a discussion of the theoretical aspects of the labour market. Topics covered include demand and supply, wage rate determination, and wage rate differentials.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
