Course description

Students explore techniques to understand and identify threats against the safety and security of people and assets in order to prevent and resolve crisis, conflict and emergency situations. They discuss the best practices of the analytical processes to identify, source, collect and evaluate information from multiple sources, in order to work effectively as a member of a protection and security team. Emerging trends related to domestic and international threats are examined in order to identify and report on security risks to assist with timely decision making. Students identify sources and causes of intelligence failures, and examine risk modeling and risk communications, in order to comply with established standards and relevant legislation in the protection, security and investigation fields.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
