Course description

Students engage in an overview of the conceptual foundations of recreation therapy. The phenomena of play, recreation and leisure are examined in historic and contemporary contexts. Societal attitudes toward individuals with disabilities are explored. The role of recreation therapists is analyzed using a number of contemporary professional practice models. Students are challenged to develop their personal philosophy of recreation therapy professional practice.
