Course description

The course examines fitness assessments applicable for general, high performance athletes, occupational and rehabilitative populations. Students will demonstrate techniques, protocols, identified norms for safe and effective assessments in both individual and group testing environments. Topics include: health screening, medications, anthropometric measurements, aerobic/anaerobic field tests, muscular strength, power, endurance, flexibility, needs analysis, movement screens, data collection and interpretation based on current research evidence. Upon successful completion, students will be able to utilize various methodologies of fitness assessments while demonstrating technical competence in various settings.

(Post Secondary level BIOL 1027 Anatomy for Fitness Minimum Grade of 50
or Post Secondary level BIOL 1016 Anatomy and Physiology Minimum Grade of 50)
and (Post Secondary level BIOL 1028 Physiology for Fitness Minimum Grade of 50
or Post Secondary level BIOL 1016 Anatomy and Physiology Minimum Grade of 50)

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
