Course description
Dimensions of diversity, including the intersectionality of culture, gender, age, race, ability, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, spirituality, and family, are examined within the context of social service delivery. Examination of the social and political forces that intersect with power, privilege and oppression impacting on equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. Students assess the systemic contexts of identity, and critically examine their social location. Students examine how law and legislation can be both an instrument of oppression and one of empowerment that contributes to Anti-Oppressive Practice (AOP).
