Program information
Program description
Students acquire Anishnaabemowin skills to develop and implement sustainable language programs in Indigenous communities and organizations. Students practice their speaking skills through interactions in the classroom, language immersion labs, community interactions, and through immersive Virtual Reality (VR) technology activities. The history of Anishnaabemowin and current issues affecting revitalization and preservation are also studied. Incorporating the Anishnaabe world-view, students examine the role and importance of Anishnaabemowin in ceremony, cultural values, and community.

Criminal Reference/Vulnerable Sector Check
Placement agencies require an up-to-date clear criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check prior to going out on placement. Students should obtain their criminal reference three months prior to placement; checks conducted earlier may not be considered current. As some jurisdictions require longer lead-time for processing, please check with the program coordinator to ensure you allow for sufficient turn-around time.
