Accommodated testing

About test accommodations

Students who face physical, medical, sensory, mental health or learning barriers to education may be eligible to receive accommodations for their tests. Accommodations may include, but are not limited to, additional time or use of adaptive technology. Students are encouraged to connect with an accessibility advisor to discuss their individual needs.

Schedule an accommodated test

As an accommodated student, you must book all your tests, quizzes and final exams via our Clockwork portal. Learn more about Clockwork on MyGCLife, including instructions and video tutorials. Accommodated students must write their test, quiz and final exam on the campus which their class is registered/attended.

To schedule your accommodated on-campus test via Clockwork, please visit MyGCLife to get started. Your accommodated test request must be submitted at least five days in advance of when your test is taking place. For example, if your test is taking place on a Thursday, your request must be put into Clockwork by Saturday (before the end of the day).

Missed or make-up testing

About missed tests and make-up tests

A missed and/or make-up test occurs when a student is unable to write a test within the scheduled class time. Faculty may grant approval to students wishing to write a missed test based on the circumstances outlined in Georgian College’s academic regulations regarding tests and exams:

“Documented medical/family emergency situations, conflicting religious observance schedules, students in varsity games or Georgian College Student Association executive members in Georgian Board of Governor, or senior management scheduled events, are grounds for special consideration. Requests for adjustments to prescribed examination or test dates must be made before the examination or test dates.”

Important notice:
When a test is not cancelled and there are multiple students that miss the test/exam due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, the academic area is responsible for arranging the testing for students to make up the test/exam. Students are not to be directed to Testing Services. Students who do contact Testing Services will be advised to contact their academic area for information on the rescheduling of tests or exams.

Schedule a missed or make-up test

Please ensure you have received confirmation and approval from faculty before scheduling a missed and/or make-up test. It is the student’s responsibility to connect with faculty and get approval for a missed/make up test before booking with testing services. You must write your test on the same campus where your course is registered.

Once approved by faculty, please visit MyGCLife to schedule your missed on-campus test. Your missed test request will be processed within five days and is subject to Testing Centre availability. Testing Services does not accommodate same day or next day bookings.

At the Barrie Campus, missed or make-up tests are scheduled during the following times:

  • Monday to Thursday between 2 and 6 p.m. (during fall and winter semesters)
  • Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

For all other campuses, contact your Testing Centre directly for more information.

Please note, missed and make-up testing is subject to availability within your campus Testing Centre. Missed or make-up tests are not scheduled during mid-term and final exam weeks.
